90 Days to a Habit: Part 2

Good evening everyone! I most definitely did not procrastinate this blog post due to not planning my day ahead and doing too many things at once and it most certainly will not be compromised due to that what so ever.

24 Hour Recap

Yesterday

Not too bad, enjoyed the day off from work and mostly spent it with Riley staying in with a nice meal on the couch. However, learning I had work the next morning did put a damper on things.

Daily workout

I spent 25 minutes on the rowing machine this morning working my way through the album “Imaginal Disk” by Magdelena Bay. I will say that this album is definitely not going into my normal workout listening as it is just a bit too slow for my tastes.

Therapy Exercise: Does this spark joy (Hurt or help)

For my therapy exercise this morning I wanted to continue to focus on IFS and work on a exercise much like the classic “Does this spark joy” with a bit of a twist. When working with the individual parts in IFS the general idea is to figure out why that part exists (aka what caused that kind of thought response or pattern) and if that is either hurting you or helping you. That doesn’t mean that the part is inheriently good, bad, or ugly, but rather if you could change it’s purpose to be more helpful than hurtful in its actions. In my case there is one part that focuses heavily on preventing social fauxpas however that part also heavily pushes an internalized shame response to things that have been deemed “cringe” which isn’t helpful, espeicially when that response prevents me from being able to effectively communicate my wants or needs.

Daily Rant: Magic: The Gathering

The rant for today will be short and just about a special interest of mine, Magic: The Gathering. While I know it is NOT everyone’s cup of tea I really enjoy it and have been really happy to build a friend group out here that also enjoys it. It has also been a great tool to help me get out of the house and meet other people that share the same interest.

I’ve gotten to meet a lot of really interesting people and have some experiences I have never had before because of it.

If you haven’t given it a shot I highly recommend trying out a few commander games to get a feel on if it could be your thing.
